She was born July 2, 1926 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Henry and Hattie Tucker. Elizabeth was the sixth born of thirteen children. Her parents, husband, son (Michael Fisher, Sr.), four sisters (Willie Mae Tucker, Gussie Lee Burbridge, Ella Faye Williams and Grace Larkins), four brothers (Calvin Tucker, L. C. Tucker, Pastor Macon Lee Tucker, and J. D. Tucker) and one daughter-in-law (Gloria Fisher) preceded her in death.
Elizabeth professed her faith in Christ at an early age at the Timber Hill Baptist Church. She attended Booker T. Washington High School in Hugo, Oklahoma. In 1944, she married Frank C. Fisher and they relocated to Kansas City, Missouri.
Elizabeth was employed as a waitress at Caldwell’s Bakery and Dining on Vine Street, where service with a smile was guaranteed. She enjoyed her job, but it wasn’t until she obtained her CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) Certificate and was employed by St. Joseph Health Center that she carried out her true calling, caring for the sick. Elizabeth referred to her work as a ministry. She worked at St. Joseph for 37 years, receiving perfect attendance for 24 years before retiring. After having been retired for 10 months, she realized she had retired prematurely. Elizabeth resumed employment at St. Joseph for an additional three years before retiring a second time, after which she volunteered an additional three years.
Elizabeth united with St. Stephen Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. John W. Williams, Sr. She served in various capacities of the church including Sunday School, Director of Baptist Training Union, the Mission Society and the choir, where she loved singing and leading songs. Elizabeth loved the Lord and was truly a faithful servant.
In 1976, Elizabeth married Lewis Mann and joined Second Baptist Church, KCMO under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. E. E. Chappelle. She continued her steadfast service to the Lord, again serving in various capacities of the church. Elizabeth loved attending church and loved her church family.
Elizabeth loved her family and cherished quality time spent. She was an avid sports fan, enjoying all the major sports. Elizabeth knew all the teams and could challenge you with her knowledge of sports trivia.
Elizabeth loved people and seldom met a stranger. She was a jovial person with a great sense of humor. Elizabeth lived her life to the fullest! Elizabeth leaves to mourn her devoted children: Frank Fisher, Jr., Robert Fisher, Richard (Bettie) Fisher and Ann (William) Parker, Sr., all of Kansas City, Missouri; sister: Fella Mae Hester of Mesa, Arizona; brothers: Leonard E.
