Elaine Whitaker Lemieux, age 76, of Mission, Kansas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 5, 2010 with her devoted family and husband at her bedside. Elaine was born on Sunday, February 5, 1934 to Meryl Fisher and Richard Whitaker. Elaine was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area and an active member of Village Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Westport High School. Elaine was a former president of the local chapter of the American Business Women’s Association. After over 30 years of service as secretary to the business manager, Elaine (Moxie) retired from Local Union #124, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, receiving commemoration as an honorary electrician. Elaine’s passion in life was spending time with her husband, four children, twelve grandchildren, extended family, church activities, and rooting for KU basketball. She supported and cheered enthusiastically at countless numbers of grandchildren’s sporting and musical events. Elaine’s entire family was blessed with her commitment and loyalty to her family and to her church. Education and setting high expectations were the priorities that Elaine set for her family. She had a fun-loving disposition and was well liked by all her dear friends. Elaine is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 57 years, Albert W. Lemieux. Al and Elaine began their long love affair in a tree in 8th grade and were married on June 27th, 1953 at Westport Presbyterian Church. Elaine leaves behind her four children, Teresa Lemieux and her children Aimee, Lauren and Scott, Nancy Champlin and her husband Brad, and their three children Bryce, Ashley, and Malorie, Richard Lemieux and his wife, Nicole, and their two children Colby and Natalie from McKinney, Texas, and Dr. Steven Lemieux and his wife, Cheri, and their four children Brent, Max, Sam and Joe.
