Edna Sue Patton, 80 years old of Independence, MO passed away on September 15, 2021 at home with loved ones. Edna was born in Malta Bend, Missouri in 1941 to Charles and Geraldine Smith. In 1958, Enda married her first husband and had two children and lived in Sugar Creek, MO. In 1976, Enda and Phillip S. Patton were married in Miami, Oklahoma. Edna and Phillip were happily married for 47 years. Edna worked at Sears & Robuck, as well as Allis Chambers where she acquired lifelong friends. Edna also went to cosmetology school, where she became a hairdresser for many years. In 1981 Edna became a Real Estate Agent where she worked for Better Homes & Gardens and in 1985 worked for Richard Powell Real Estate in Oak Grove, MO. Edna enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching the Kansas City Royals and spending time with family.
Edna leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law Richard and Caroline Deihl of Kingsville, MO; daughter Deborah Kerr of Sugar Creek, MO step-son Perry Patton of Los Angeles, CA; and step-daughter Kim Gouldsmith of Independence, MO; and sister Beulah Murray, Northmoor, MO. Edna also leaves behind grandchildren Joshua and Jillian Kerr of Bates City, MO; Jacob Kerr of Sugar Creek, MO; and great granddaughter Kamber Kerr of Sugar Creek, MO; 6 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren.
Through the years Edna and Phil had extended family Kathy Freddle, Arnie Arndt, as well as Neil and Julie Thomas who they thought of as their own children. Edna is preceded in death by her husband Phillip Patton, step-son Jerry Patton, son-in-law Gregory Kerr, father Charles Smith, mother Geraldine Smith, sister Bertha Trotter, sister Rose Murray, sister Maryellen Smith and niece Kathy Murray. Edna was known by many names, Edna, Eddie, Sue, Grandma, Gram and Gee Gee. She will be missed by her family and friends and her memory will live on forever.
