Remembering Uncle Don:  He was calm and friendly, enthusiastic and loving to Dolly and the kids.  I always loved spending time with him when the Ong Clan would visit us at the shore in Stone Harbor and Avalon. His piloting expertise was a wonder to my father, Ray Cathcart, who really enjoyed piloting with him. I'm so happy he had so many of my terrific cousins with him in his later years. He was an especially kind and caring father. - Bruce Cathcart, cousin in St. Augustine, Florida.

We met Don & Dolly in the early 60's when there was a mix up in our Hotel Fontenblue reservations.  We checked in 1st & were assigned their room by mistake.  We all were attending the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Assoc. international meeting.  In years following, we were able to visit with them numerous times in their home & always enjoyed our friendship.

Don was very special and will be sorely missed by all who knew him especially those at St. Thomas More and Blue Hills.  We feel fortunate to be part of that group.  God bless you at this sad time.

Dear Ong Family,

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your father.  My brothers and I will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.  I hope that you find comfort in our remembrance of you and your parents.  It was just a couple of weeks ago that I was reminded once again of your parents taking me to the Super Bowl.  I think of that trip every year at this time. As an 8 year old I knew that your Dad was a very kind and caring person.
Both your Dad and Mom smiled often and seemed to enjoy life and family.  Your home had a happy, loving atmosphere.

What a dear, sweet man Don was (& still is). He was always kind and generous to me & my entire family since we met in the mid-80s at the engagement of our children (David, & my daughter Rebecca). My deepest sympathy to you all, and extra prayers for the progress of his precious soul in the next world.

Dear Ong Family,
Don and Dolly were long time friends to Joan and me.  I first meet Bill and Don Ong in the early 1960's when they considered buying building lots from the family at Park Lane Estates at 100th & Blue Ridge Blvd.  We built homes with adjoining subdivisions at 119th & Food Lane.  I knew many of his employees from the 1960's and 70's, and Eldon Brown worked for me for a few years.  We spent numerous conventions together at the Home Builders.  On one occasion he flew me back from Jefferson City, MO in his private airplane.  We shared many family stories and business experiences together.  Don lived at Villa Ventura where my Mother-in-law has been for several years.  We have both been members at Blue Hill Country Club.  Joan and I send our prayers and sympathy to the entire family.        Hank & Joan Riffe

I'll never forget how cool your parents were. I spent a few days at your house years ago, Birhday parties, NAIA Basketball etc. Your family was indeed about sharing and loving. Your Mother and Father embraced and encouraged that . He lived a great life ...He will be Missed

I was a neighbor of the Ong family in the late 1960's when they lived in Verona Hills.  I bet Mr. Ong was probaly the only Harvard Grad in the neighborhood that seemed to enjoy mowing his own lawn.  I remember swinging on their neat swing set while he would mow under us as we went back and forth. He always had a smile on his face and it was really fun. We always looked forward to when Mr. Ong mowed his yard and it was one of my more pleasant memories as a kid.  Funny the little things you remember about people! I am very sorry to hear of his passing and my thoughts and prayers are with the Ong family in this difficult time.

To all the family, my heartfelt sympathies to you.  I worked for Don 2 times for about 18 years total and he was a wonderful gentleman and boss; a teacher with kind words and always generous to his employees.

I learned of Donald’s passing while out of town.  I deeply regret being unable to attend his funeral services and to express my condolences to the Ong family in person.  Donald’s love and devotion for his faith and family provided me with a wonderful example of Christian life.  I feel privileged to have known him.  I will remember him in my thoughts and prayers.
