Constance “Connie” Sue Snapp, 76, of Gladstone, MO passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 11:00 am, with a visitation starting at 10:00 am, at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64119. Burial will follow services at 2:00 pm in King City Cemetery, King City, MO.
Connie was born in Bethany, MO on September 30, 1943 to parents Laverne and Eva (Taylor) Antle, the youngest of 11 children. She attended high school in King City, MO and graduated in 1961. While attending high school, Connie met the love of her life, Dennis “Denny” Snapp. They were married on November 19, 1961 and spent 58 years together until her death.
When Connie first came to Kansas City, she and Dennis lived in Northeast. She worked downtown as a long-distance operator for Southwestern Bell Telecommunications. She enjoyed spending her lunch breaks with her sister, Sharon, and her girlfriends, Carol Taylor, Diane Kelso, and Chris Saferight. Connie and Dennis spent a lot of time with their close friends, Jim and Judy Roe, racing at the dragstrip. Connie could outdrive any man she raced against.
After leaving Southwestern Bell, Connie pursued a career in healthcare working in the ER at the old Osteopathic Hospital for several years before becoming a stay at home mother. After her daughter, Stacey, was in high school, Connie went to college and started working for Tri-County Mental Health. Later, she worked for Dr. Jose Fischer and Dr. Abelardo Negrete. She retired from North Kansas City Dental Clinic in 2015.
Throughout Connie and Dennis’s life, they spent time together on vacation going to such places as Las Vegas, NV and the Virgin Islands, taking cruises, and flying to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Cancun, Cozumel, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. One of Connie’s favorite places to go was Scottsdale, AZ.
Connie loved her family and enjoyed going out to eat with her daughter Stacy and son-in-law, Phil. They also attended many concerts together and enjoyed artists such as Elton John, Garth Brooks, Billy Joel, George Strait, Harry Connick Jr., and Tina Turner.
Throughout their life, Connie and Dennis opened their home and hearts and fostered over 40 children in Clay County.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jenelda Carmichael, Jeneal Groom, Alma Carmichael, Melba Hart, and Beverly Jenkins; brother, Jerry Antle; and son-in-law Phil Phillips.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Dennis Snapp; daughter, Stacey Snapp Phillips; sisters, Carolyn Hewitt and Sharon Lippett; brothers, Robert (Barbara) Antle and Richard (Charlotte) Antle; sister-in-law, Penny (Larry) Warren and a multitude of nieces, nephews and friends to cherish her memory.
