Clifford Wayne Sullivan of Overland Park, KS passed away the 27th of June, 2023 at home of natural causes. Cliff was born October 31, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas to Albert Wayne and Joylene E. (Mason) Sullivan. He was a graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School and Kansas State University where he received his degree in Architecture. He met his wife Kathryn Lynn Sullivan while at K-State and were married while he was finishing his degree. He loved being an architect and designing buildings and homes for people, retiring in 2017. Cars were always a passion for him, racing them locally in his younger days, working on them, and following Formula 1 Racing. His family knew better than to schedule activities on Indy 500 or Le Mans days. He also enjoyed shooting his muzzleloaders, trap shooting and hunting in his free time. He was proud of his son’s involvement in Boy Scouts and after his son graduated and moved to Kansas State he could be counted on for several more years to get up on Pancake Breakfast Saturday, put on his scout uniform and help make pancakes until his family encouraged him to let the other father’s take over. He still enjoyed eating pancakes, making them for the family regularly. When his son and his friends started a BBQ team, Cliff was eager to “help” and always taste test before turn in time. He could be found in recent years at his daughters’ Olathe Community Orchestra Concerts and attending performances at the Unicorn Theatre. Regardless of the activity, Cliff was always asking questions and being the proud parent in all his children’s activities. Retirement did not sit well with Cliff, and he went back to work part time at Home Depot in Merriam as a stress-free job, eventually returning full time. He looked forward to planning trips for the family to take, returning a week before his death from his most recent. The Day before his death, he had already started planning where he wanted to take the family next year.
He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Craig Lee Sullivan. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathryn Lynn Sullivan, Daughters Kellie and Taylor Sullivan of Overland Park, Son Brenton Sullivan with Jennifer Livingood and Granddaughter Eleanor Margaret Sullivan of Riley, KS. He was looking forward to meeting his newest granddaughter due in July. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Unicorn Theatre of Kansas City, MO. (www.unicorntheatre.org)
