Clara Violet (Conklin) Shapley McClure of North Kansas City, MO passed away on December 4, 2015. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 8th from 6-8 pm at the Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 9th at 10:00 am with burial following at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Clara was the oldest of 11 children. She was born in Omaha, NE on December 18, 1934. Having lived in several small towns, the family settled on a farm near Ava, MO. She attended North Kansas City High School and Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, MO. She worked as a Nurse Aide at Baptist Medical Center until retiring and then volunteered at the same facility. Clara was committed to her faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Kansas City. She was married to Ralph Shapley from June 1958 to October 1979, which produced her only child, Phyllis Ruth Shapley. Clara is survived by her husband Donald R. McClure, daughter Phyllis Ruth Shapley Every, stepson Donald R. McClure, Jr. and stepdaughter Kerri Shaw and three grandchildren. Clara has seven surviving siblings: Gladys Peak, Doris Jutras (Marc), Earl Conklin, Helen Ireton, Lloyd Conklin, Harold Conklin and Erma Akers (Chris). Welcoming her into God’s presence are three brothers: Wilbur, Robert and Eddie along with her parents and grandparents. The family appreciates the care and comfort given to her by Garden Valley Nursing Home and Crossroads Hospice, both of Kansas City, MO.
