Calvin Arthur Elliott

Calvin Arthur Elliott passed away November 3, 2016. He was born June 19, 1927 in Afton, Iowa to Lottie and Charles Elliott. He attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He retired from Farmland Industries after 41 years where he served as Vice President of Transportation and Distribution. Calvin was General Manager of National Farm Lines, a subsidiary of Farmland for a few years in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clyde and Howard Killion, sister Helena Applegate, and granddaughter Alexis Elliott. He was a Scout Master, served on the R.U.D.A.T. under Mayor Dick Berkley and was a member of the Mayor's Corps of Progress. Calvin was on the board/advisory committee of Maple Woods Community College, Missouri Motor Carriers Association, Citizens Association, and Ellsworth Hospital. He was past president/board member of the Northland Chamber of Commerce, Maplewoods Community College, Maple Park Place Homeowners Association, and Liberty Hills Country Club. Calvin was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church where he served numerous years on the Parish Council. He was past president, vice-president, and treasurer; on the Building and the Vision Committees; and a volunteer/recruiter for maintenance and grounds in a group called the "Georges". He was an avid golfer, enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, dancing, and playing bridge.

Calvin leaves to mourn him his wife of 65 years, Penny; three sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Beth Elliott, Steve and Ronda Elliott, Bill and Staci Elliott; a daughter and son-in-law, Georgianne and Denzil Potts; and eight grandchildren, Mallory Goepel (Kyle) and Elliott Potts, Cole (Linzy), Sam, Calvin, Anna, Kalli and Nick Elliott; and one great-granddaughter, Gia Goepel.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 6, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, with Trisagion at 7:00 pm. Funeral will be Monday, November 7 at 10:00 am at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 12001 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64145. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Annunciation Church Building Fund.
