Born on May 20, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, Bonnie’s life was one of dedication and growth. She pursued higher education and earned a master’s degree at K-State University. Her unwavering commitment to education shaped not only her life but also the lives of those around her. Bonnie worked for the Olathe School District for forty years, teaching junior high English, and eventually transitioned to being a school counselor.
In 2003, Bonnie and Mickey lost their son Brett to suicide. Bonnie decided to make something positive out of Brett's death, and started SASS (Suicide Awareness Survivor Support) and a support group for people who have lost loved ones to suicide.
Bonnie was the beloved wife of Michael Swade and mother of Amy, Haley and Zachiary.
Bonnie’s memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life and legacy will continue to inspire those who remain.
