Betty J. Barchak, 88, Independence, MO passed away January 26, 2019. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30pm, followed by visitation until 8pm, on Friday, Feb. 1st at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Saturday, Feb. 2nd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 600 N. Liberty St, Independence, MO 64050 followed by entombment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Betty was born November 1, 1930 to Donald and Blanche Erwin in Denoya, OK. She married Steve Barchak at the age of 16 and of this union, three sons were born. Steve and Betty would eventually move to the Kansas City area, where Betty was a homemaker and loved gardening.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Steve; brother, Pete Erwin and sister, Bonnie Richardson. Survivors include her sons: Steven Barchak, David and wife Eunie Barchak, Timothy and wife Jennifer Barchak; sisters: Kay Stephens and husband Clyde, Judy Caldarella and husband Carl, and June Grecco; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
