Funeral services will be at Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral, in Kansas City, MO, on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m,. with catered luncheon immediately following. Memorial Contributions may be made to Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, or International House of Prayer – Kansas City.
Barbara met Richard in front of the campus library while in at MU, and they married soon after. This union produced three children, Cathie, Carl and Chris. Barbara started her college career by earning an Associate Degree in Nursing from Deaconess College of Nursing in St Louis, MO. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Missouri, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and continued on to earn a PhD in Vocational Education from the University of Missouri.
Barbara lived her life in Lee’s Summit, MO in her beloved home for more than 50 years before moving to Olathe in 2022. She enjoyed playing the piano, and attending many church activities. In the later years, she was actively involved in the healing and prayer rooms at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Eugene Mason, her parents, George and Anita (Peiker) Borgstede, and brother, Lloyd Borgstede.
She is survived by daughter, Catherine Louise Lapreze, son Carl John Mason (Wendy Mason), son Christopher Edward Mason (Ami Mason), brother George Borgstede (Linda Borgstede). grandchildren: Megan Mason, Richard Mason, Ashley Mason, Steven Mason, CJ Mason, and Jesse Mason as well as great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
Barbara passionately loved her family and was a vivid story teller. She will be missed by all how knew and loved her.
