Virginia Frances States, 89, of Kansas City, KS., passed away peacefully on December 11, 2010 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, with her daughter by her side. Virginia was born on August 16, 1921 in Akron, CO., to Arthur Chester and Etta Florence Loftiss. She graduated from Wyandotte High School, and lived in the Kansas City area most of her life. She attented several churches in the Kansas City area: White Church Baptist, First Baptist Church Of Bethel, Victory Assembly Of God and West Haven Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for many years and taught Bible school also. As a young woman she worked in her parents store, Brown Avenue Market in Kansas City, KS. Virginia is preceded in death by: her parents, husband of 56 years, William C. States, brothers: Frank Loftiss and his wife Florence, Leo Loftiss and his wife Frances, Shirley Loftiss, sister: Leota McHenry, and nephew: Luke McGhee. Survivors include her loving daughter: Linda L. King and son in-law Jerry. Virginia was affectionately known as “Auntie Mommie” by Shelly McGhee and her fiance Ken Borders and grandson: Jake McGhee. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews along with many long time friends, and one sister-in-law Lois Loftiss. Virginia is also survived by her pet birds, Ditter, Sparky, and Tater, grand dogs: Tucker, Toby, Lilith and several grand birds. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Virginia Frances States to: West Haven Baptist, Church Tonganoxie, KS., Victory Assembly Of God, Bonner Springs, KS. or Crossroads Hospice, Lee’s Summit, MO.
