Where do you even begin… Pops was the most loving and caring grandpa anyone could ever ask for. I’ll always remember being able to go to him for anything and everything. Me and my brother always wanted to be with pops, he’d take us everywhere, he’d always manage to cheer us up when we were sad… he truly was one of our father figures! He was the best grandpa/dad ever! He would always take me to work with him, he’d get his morning tea and 2 pack of cookies for the day and we’d drive around all of Kansas and Missouri looking at his jobs with his occasional road rage. I’ll always remember every single day at 11 am he would ask me what I wanted for lunch because he knew I had to eat at a certain time and no matter where we were we would be soon on the way to getting whatever I said I wanted for lunch. I remember always hanging out with poppy up in his garage and even when I was mad at him I’d always want to be around him. He might have been strict, but he wanted the best for me and my brother, he wouldn’t settle for anything less! Poppy was truly the best grandpa/father I could have ever asked for and I wouldn’t trade a single memory for the world, I miss him every single day and wish he was right here back at my side giving me a hug. There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t give to get him back! He will truly be missed greatly. I love you poppers, I know your up there watching over us!

To the family I send my condolences. I know Steve is missed by all he was an amazing man.

I express my sincere condolence to the family. I became acquainted with Steve when I was a young teenager. I remember his pleasant smile. How he had the unique persona of making you feel comfortable around him. With Steve’s personality, he never met a stranger. I later observed his tremendous work ethics, working long hours, six days a week and most times seven days a week. I always admired what Steve accomplished, and these wonderful memories will always be with me!

Just heard about Steve’s passing! Still in a little bit of shock!
My Dad (painting contractor) used to do a lot of work for same builders Steve and his Dad worked for. Jump forward to mid 90’s and I started running work for Don Margratier in Hallbrook. Mike and Steve were nothing but good to me. Once you were friends with those guys it was forever.  When I started remodeling in 2000, Steve was always passing me leads and helping however he could. I am more upset than I can say at the passing of our beloved cousin, Steve Ferguson.  My sisters and I have so many wonderful memories of growing up with Steve.   We had no brothers, so the male cousins around our age became like brothers to us.   The memories of our antics together as kids do help assuage a little of the grief we share at the too-soon parting of Steve from this world.  We love you and will miss you always, Steve.

Yvonne, Mark and family,        I am so saddened to hear of my cousin Steve's passing.  My heart goes out to you. You are in my thoughts and prayers for comfort, peace, solace and strength.

I am stunned to learn of the passing of my handsome, fun loving, Elvis looking, big hearted and larger than life cousin. We waited too long for that lunch and I will always regret not getting it on our calendars.  Love you Steve. My deepest sympathies to Yvonne, family, Mark and all those who mourn his passing.

I have had the honor and pleasure of being able to call Steve my friend and colleague for more than thirty years. So so many wonderful out of town trips, motorcycle rides, airplane rides and other journeys far and wide we shared together and with others. A number of years ago I asked Steve to be my guest for Daytona Bike Week and he accepted. We were to stay in my Motorcoach but on the first evening we stayed out to late and got caught in a cold rain storm and were forced to stay with some bikers in their filthy crazy club house on the wet dirty floor. Steve’s response the next morning was simply ( What’s for breakfast ) Steve has made an impact on so many people and will be missed by everyone. Cheers to you my big brother and friend I will always carry part of you with me wherever I may go !!!!!

Steve was an amazing person who had a kind heart and practiced tough love. He expected the best out of his coworkers, employees, and friends, because he was the best.

Steve was a wonderful man and a good friend. God was smiling down on me when Steve contacted me over 25 years ago to help with your payroll system. We've laughed, cried, and shared stories. He was always interested in what was happening in my life. I always said that to know Steve was to love him. It's one thing to have a customer - it's another thing to call that customer a friend. Your family has become part of my extended family - because of Steve. Please know the Cook family's prayers are with you - always.

Yvonne and family:
             I am truly heart broken to have learned of Steves passing. We grew up in Overland Park Ks. not far from one another as kids  and did we have fun! We worked at FINA gas station in the late 60s together and street raced cars. and did many other things i will not get into, One thing to say about Steve is that he was a loving  person to all and had a wonderful since of humor. His laugh was unforgettable. For all that new Steve do this one thing. the love and respect you had for him, show this to others and  he will love you all the more for it! Remember to love hug kiss and thank family and friends for the little things they do for you every day,,,for we know not what tomorrow may bring! this is so true. I will miss my friend Steve.. rest in peace...Gary McKinzie...

RIP Big Steve

Ferguson Drywall was my first job I ever really stayed working at for some time, 10 years sanding drywall, one of my favorite jobs. . Also was my first landlord! Couldn’t have met a better man in my opinion grew up with a lot of memories with him and Mike and wouldn’t want to change a thing. He raised to great kids and took care of the guys the worked for him . I did get to see him a couple of times at Lowe’s  since I started working at the railroad and seeing him was like seeing your best friend! Rest in peace big guy you’ll be missed.

We were the Three Amigos Steve Ferguson Mike Ames and me I had met Steve in 1972 when we worked in the Union at Crown Center he was a tall handsome dude spitting image of Elvis Presley I used to tease him he was cool we became close friends the memories I have I will take to the Grave with me we were a little on the honry side but we had fun later in life him and his dad started their own company and Mike and me worked for him I met Mike long before Steve with KC Drywall when I was at the age of 13,,, when Steve and his dad started their own company we was three of a kind worked with Steve and the gang many years off and on I always had a home with him and he let me in with open arms no matter what we went through hard times and Good Times had a few scuffles and arguments but what we always remains friends was there to watch both of these awesome parents have kids and was around both of them my whole life the memories I have I'll always cherish the stories I have I'll always keep in my heart Steve and Mike were best friends and they would truly be missed God bless you both

The Ames and Ferguson families go back a very long time. Growing up and being around the Ferguson’s as a child then starting to work for the family drywall Business in 1992 changed my life forever.  I move onto General Motors in May of 2010…. Uncle Steve was one of  the 2 men in my life  who taught me  so much that he will never know how much he influenced me. Of Course the other was my father .. I truly believed when we lost my dad that Steve was heartbroken over losing his best friend.  I shared so many conversations with uncle Steve as we both mourned the loss of my father.  I will always cherish what  I had with him as Uncle Steve. I am sorry this has happened. I hope my father was there with open arms for him when he moved on to the next chapter…

I have so many memories as a babysitter to Stacy and my sister as our parents would have their dinner outings. Later, I would have friends work for Steve or know him from around Payless (where I worked in early 90s)  You knew that voice, his slight chuckle when he said our names and then his business voice when you knew to listen up and respond to task.
Our family mourns this loss with you Yvonne and kids. May perpetual light shine apon Steve and may he rest in peace.
