Ruth V. Richards, 82, of Kansas City Kansas, passed away Monday, March 31st. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 3rd at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 4th at the funeral home. Interment will follow the services in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Ruth was born November 6, 1931 in Tahlaquah, Oklahoma to Claude and Margaret (Nelson) Ingram. She grew up in Oklahoma, married J.W. Willcutt in 1944 and moved to Kansas City in 1950. Ruth married the love of her life, Roy Richards on November 4, 1968. She was a very active member of Victory Baptist for many years, she loved to sing and praise the Lord. Ruth worked for Sunshine Biscuit in 1956 and then at University of Kansas as a custodian; she retired in 1989. She worked as a caregiver and housewife as well. Ruth enjoyed working with her hands, from crocheting, sewing, gardening to fishing. She loved to dance, shop, and listen to bluegrass music but she loved her family most of all, especially taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth never met a stranger and her sweet and charming spirit quickly endeared her to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy Richards; her daughter, Kimberly Hawley, her son, Gerald Willcutt; her siblings, Pearl Tincher, Billy Ingram and Paul Kilpatrick; as well as two grandchildren, Jessica and Joshua Willcutt.
Ruth is survived by her children, Linda Cuellar, Jimmy Willcutt, Timothy Willcutt, Angelique Willcutt, Christine Kirkwood and her husband Kevin and Cheryl Hopkins; her siblings, Betty Jennings and Don Ingram; her grandchildren, Robert Mitchell, Jason Willcutt, Terri Mensik, Johnny Willcutt, James Hawley, Heather Elevier, Brianna Willcutt, Brandon Willcutt, Travis Burge, Danielle Wendt, Trey Clark, Krystal Scott, Janelle Baldwin, Bobbie Scott, Kristopher Ingala and Dustin Hopkins; as well as 24 great grandchildren and other friends and family.
