Rowena Karnopp, 86, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away March 29, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the mausoleum.
Rowena was born January 3, 1927 in Holdredge, NE to Shelby and Margaret (Loper) Ellis. Her family soon moved to Norton, KS, where Rowena grew up and met her future husband, Max. After they married, they moved to Kansas City. Rowena worked as a secretary at a law firm and later for International Paper Company, but for most of her life, she was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Modern Twenties Ladies’ Club. Rowena loved crafts of all kinds, making candy at Christmas, working in the yard and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, and her sister, Evelyn Gregory. Rowena is survived by her husband of 66 years, Max Karnopp, daughter, Marsha Jenkins and her husband Philip, grandson, Robert D. Jenkins, granddaughter Pamela C. Jenkins as well as three great-grandchildren.
