Norman L. Johnson, 75, of KCK, passed away Sunday, June 21st at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N 94th St., KCK; with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. preceding the service. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Saint Luke’s Hospice House.
Norman was born May 12, 1940 in Pattonsburg, Missouri to Rufus and Mildred Johnson. He was raised mainly by his grandmother, Inez Nalle when his mother fell ill. Norman graduated from Pattonsburg High School and moved to Kansas City shortly thereafter. He married Charlene McCloud on June 18, 1960 and they raised three children. Norman worked for forty-three years at Certain-Teed Fiberglass, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Teamster’s Local 41. Norman loved all sports, and played Minor league baseball, fast pitch softball, basketball, and was an avid bowler. He was “Bowler of the Year” twice and held records for the State of Kansas for his bowling prowess. Norman enjoyed watching the Chiefs play, but he loved the Green Bay Packers.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Inez Nalle; his parents, Rufus Johnson and Mildred Nalle; and his sister, Judy Ann Johnson-Luke.
Norman is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlene Johnson of the home; sons, Roger Johnson of Dallas, TX, and Ron Johnson of Olathe; daughter, Norma Enloe and her husband Charles of North Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Roger Johnson, Jr., Eric Johnson, Alisha Johnson, Shane Enloe and his wife Nichole, and Sydney Enloe; and brother-in-law, Lawrence McCloud and his wife Marjorie; as well as many other relatives and friends.
