Michael had talent with his hands, fixing and building things. He loved working with computer and technology gadgets. He loved cooking, and his favorite thing to cook was gumbo. When he cooked the gumbo, family and friends from everywhere came to enjoy it. He also did a lot of house and yard work, and loved his “man cave”.
Michael gave his life to God at a early age. He developed a life long love for church. He obtained employment in the railroad industry when he was 19 years old. He had many positions while working for the railroad. He worked for Union Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroad. His job titles were House Carpenter Foreman, Bridge Foreman, Welder (Welder helper), Bridgeman and Trackman until he retired.
Michael was married twice, he has two sons from his first marriage, Michael Jr., and Marcus Edwards. His three children from his second marriage, Harley, Michael and Latoya Ross.
He attended school in Beaumont, Texas and received his GED. He went to college at Lamar University for Mechanical Engineering.
His married his second wife in 1995, Wanda Edwards. They were married 27 years. He was the best husband, father, grandfather. brother and uncle you could ever have and will be forever missed by family and friends.
Michael leaves to rejoice in his homegoing, his wife Wanda Edwards, two sons: Michael, Jr. and Marcus Edwards of Beaumont, Texas, other children: Harley, Michael and Latoya Ross all of Kansas City, Kansas; two brothers: Kenneth J. (Gloria) Edwards, Apex, North Carolina, Robert L. (Joann) Edwards, Austin, Texas, four sisters: Brenda J. (Neal) Ozen, Marva E. Craig, Sandra F. Edwards, Glenda Bennett along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A gathering of family and friends for Michael will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Following the gathering of family and friends will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112.
Serving as pallbearers are Damon Ross, Dom Williams, Michael Ross, Jr., Tama Johnson, Harley Ross and Michael Ross, Sr..
