Julia “Judy” Irene Lillig, 91, Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023. Judy England was born on November 19, 1931, in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of William and Engle England. Judy was a 1949 Graduate of Wyandotte High School, where she was a member of Delta Kappa Theta and a Letter Girl. She was united in marriage to John Phillip Lillig Jr. on June 27, 1952. Judy was employed at City Hall, in Kansas City, Kansas, and worked in the Auditing and Payroll Departments. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, American Business Women’s Association, Kansas Business Women’s Association, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She is most fondly remembered as a doting mom, grandma and great-grandma and took great pride in capturing photos and documenting every special event in her family’s lives. Judy would often leave events and go straight to get film processed and into photo albums to deliver the following day. She enjoyed going to Branson and seeing her favorite singer, Andy Williams, collecting Beanie Babies, watching the I Love Lucy show and Shirley Temple movies, and The Price is Right daily.
Judy is survived by her children: Mike Lillig (Debbie) and Colleen Mann (Jim); grandchildren: Christy Dow (Matt), Carrie Handy (Chris), Shawn Lillig, Michael Lillig (Allie), Nikki Friederich (Matt), Anna Lillig, John Lillig, Katie Luebbering (Brian) and Zachary Mann; great grandchildren: Clayce and Cora Dow, Devon, Madison, and Carson Handy, Sylvia and Sadie Lillig, Charlie Friederich, Isabella, Oliver, Isaac, and Abigail Luebbering; daughter-in-law, Vicki Lillig and sibling, Peggy Crockett. Judy was preceded in death by: John Phillip Lillig, Jr.; son, John Phillip (JP) Lillig, III; grandchild, Olivia Irene Luebbering; parents William and Engle England; and brother, Billy, and sister, Linda.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 14, from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1086 N 94th St., Kansas City, KS. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS.
