John Jensen

Mr. John Jensen, born December 22, 1933, of Tonganoxie, Kansas to Christian (1899) and Agnes Marie (unknown) Jensen. John had two sisters, Helen Jenicke (1931) and Vera Jensen (1935). On September 17th, 1934, John was Baptized by Pastor, Clifford Madsen. Until his last day he believed in our Lord and Savior and sighted his prayers before bedtime every night. He graduated High School in 1952 from Rosedale High, of Kansas City, Kansas and went on to enlist in The United States Armed forces where he was honorably discharged in 1961. In the spring of 1958 John married Donna Jean (Bateman) Jensen (1938) and they had three children, Paul Gregory Jensen (1965), John Wade Jensen (Unknown) and Pamela Jean Maurer (1959). John also adopted Donna’s oldest son Wesley Lon (1958).

On April 4th1968, John married Doris Ellen (Ryan) Jensen where they lived in Kansas City, Kansas until her passing in 1991. While they never had any children together, he accepted her five children as his own, Lloyd Alan Shackleford (1945), Paul David Shackleford (1947), Kathryn Luetta Trinkle (1950), Gerald Steven Trinkle (1951) and William Merle Trinkle (1952). John loved children so much that he and Doris adopted three of her grandchildren, William James (1971), Shawn Paul (1972) and Elizabeth Ann (1973) to raise as their own.

John was a kind, gentle man who loved his family. He worked hard as the provider, but always had time for a joke or two. He loved telling stories of the big one he caught during one of his many fishing trips, although it was usually only a few inches big. In his spare time, he built dog houses, took family trips and attended activities the children were involved in. He spent his later years fishing, sitting outdoors in the sun and attending numerous ballgames of his grandchildren. John was a son, father and grandfather, but most of all he was Papaw (PAP) to everyone he loved.

Preceded in death by: His parents Christian (1982) and Agnes Marie (1972) Jensen, Sister Helen Jenicke (2016), sons Paul Gregory Jensen (1986), John Wade Jensen (1 week old), Wesley Lon Jensen (2001), Paul David Shackleford (2003) and William Merle Trinkle (2021).

Survived by: Sister Vera Jensen, Daughters Pamela Jean Maurer, Kathryn Luetta Trinkle, Elizabeth Ann Jensen and sons Lloyd Alan Shackleford, Gerald Steven Trinkle, William James Jensen and Shawn Paul Jensen. John has twenty-nine grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.
