Helen Louise Hampton Godard, 89, of Basehor, KS passed away July 26, 2013 at St. John Hospital. A visitation will be held Sunday, July 28th from 5-7 PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCKS. The funeral service will be Monday, July 29th at 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Helen will be buried next to her husband at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens following the funeral.
Helen was born and lived most of her life in Kansas City area. She was the daughter of George and Allie Hampton, both deceased as well as her husband, Raymond (Dodge) A. Godard.
Dodge and Helen Godard operated two different service stations, One Godard’s Service and Cargo Oil Co., both in Muncie, KS which is now Kansas City, KS. During WWII, Helen worked at North American Modification Center working on B-25’s 7 days a week, May Co. Invoice off in Los Angeles, CA, and served on the Board of Zoning Appeals of Basehor, KS for 10 years, and a member of Quivira Crossing (DAR) in Lenexa, KS (Daughters of the American Revolution). Survivors include her nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
