Gary D. Ussery, 58, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away March 16, 2019 at home surrounded by family. Graveside services will be held at 1:30pm, Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. Gary was born June 8, 1960 in Kansas City, MO to Alva and Ruth Ussery. He graduated in 1979 from Washington High School in Kansas City, KS. Gary worked for a variety of shops and was a member of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers, Local #27. He married Kim Scarborough in 1980 and they brought their son David home in 1981, and their son Aaron in 1984. Gary retired in 1996. He was an avid Jayhawks and Royals fan and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Ruth Ussery; and his grandparents, Jenny and Charles Foy, Sr. and Agnes and Roy Ussery.
Gary is survived by his sons, David Ussery and his wife Sarah, and Aaron Ussery; his sister, Diane Ussery; his grandchildren, Tatum, Tenlee, Lealand, and Jase Ussery; his uncle, Charles Foy, Jr.; his former wife, Kim Ussery; as well as other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank cousins Doris Rak, Ed Swob and wife Cindy, Tim Swob and wife Missy for there ongoing loving support for Gary and the family during his battle with colon cancer. Thank you to the friends and family who also offered their thoughts and prayers!
In honor of Gary and his love for the Jayhawks and Royals you may wear jeans and your favorite sports attire if you wish!
