Emily M. Stoddard

Emily M. Stoddard, 87, passed away April 8, 2014. A visitation will be held Sunday, April 13th from 1:00-2:00 PM with memorial service at 2:00 PM, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Military honors will follow the memorial service. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64145.

Emily was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Henry and Susan Schubert. She lived in Texas and the Kansas City area. Emily served in the United States Women’s Army until her honorable discharge in 1945. She was a member of the American Legion Post 188. Emily was a homemaker, taking care of her home and family. She enjoyed gardening, baking, crafting and loved country music.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Susan; a daughter, Penny Stoddard; brother, George Mangles; and sisters, Annie Cox and Alvina Letcher. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Todd and wife Malinda Stoddard, Rush Harkleroad and David Harkleroad; daughter, Robin Harkleroad; brother, James Head; grandchildren, Kaley and husband Larry Jones, Zachary Stoddard, Alli Stoddard, Sharnise “Nikki” McGee, Alan Harkleroad and Jeffrey Harkleroad; great-grandson, Malakai Jones; great-granddaughters, Neveah Everett and Penny Russell. She also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.
