Doris Jean Hundley Farmer, age 92, Kansas City, Kansas died peacefully with family at her bedside March 2, 2023, at Lakeview Village Long Term Care Center. Visitation will be 10:00 AM, Friday March 10, 2023 at Chapel-Hill Butler Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday March 10, 2023 at Chapel-Hill Butler Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kansas. Burial services will be at Highland Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
Mrs. Doris Jean Farmer was born March 19,1930 in Truman, Arkansas. She was raised in Truman, Arkansas, daughter of a cotton farmer. She moved to Chicago, Illinois after high school where she met her husband of 56 years, Glenn Richard Farmer. They raised their family of 4 children in Kansas City, Kansas. Doris was well loved and admired by many. She was generally thought of as sweet and sassy. She was a well respected seamstress for cheerleading teams and bridal parties. She was a leader in PTA and Girl Scouts. After her children were grown, she then decided to help her daughter, Dr. Debra Tickles, start her pediatric practice, Wyandotte Pediatrics. Doris originally planned to help for 2 weeks, and instead continued working at Wyandotte Pediatrics for 21 years. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who also considered her sweet and sassy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, son David, son Walter, and granddaughter Jessica Roark.
She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Debra Tickles (Chuck), and Charlena Boultinghouse, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
