Donald W. White, 86, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on December 17, 2012 at home surrounded by family. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 20th at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Sacred Heart Hospice, 7735 Washington Ave., Suite D, KCK 66112 or the National Kidney Foundation, 6405 Metcalf Avenue #204, Overland Park, KS 66202.
Don was born November 25, 1926 in Bonner Springs, Kansas to Glenwood and Bessie White. He grew up in Kansas City and was drafted into the Navy while still in high school. After his military service, Don married Jean White in the early 1950s. He worked as an architect for Byers & Gunn of Kansas City, Kansas for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Don loved gardening, woodworking, painting, watching football and KU basketball, and spending time with grandkids and attending their activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenwood and Bessie, an infant sister, and his wife Jean White. Don is survived by his children, Sandy Seetin and husband Dennis of KCK, Joy Phillips and husband Bill of New Port Richey, FL, Don White and wife Kate of KCK, Jayne LaFramboise of Wasilla, Alaska; special friend Jeannie Watkins; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren as well as many friends.
