Dennis was born on June 17th, 1955 to John and Evelyn Anderson in Kansas City, Kansas. After graduating from Wyandotte High School in 1973, he went on to study Pipe Fitting and became a member of Pipe Fitters Union 533 on March 6th, 1979. He retired in March of 2011 remaining a member of the union for more than 43 years. Some of his best friends came from his work, and he still kept in touch with a number of them.
Dennis loved sports, especially K-State basketball and was an avid fisherman. Fishing and spending time with family and friends were his passions. Anyone who knew Dennis also knew that he was very enthusiastic about barbecue and his results were always spectacular.
He was always an uplifting spirit in gatherings with friends and family. Dennis was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, not often mentioned, but definitely implied.
He was also a passionate craftsman who could be found in his garage during his time off, tinkering and enjoying life. He loved craft beers and even brewed his own on occasion, and really enjoyed his favorite beverage while playing pool.
Dennis was the most loving father anyone could ask for, more than a father but a dear friend. He is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn, his father John (JD), Debby (Sims) Anderson and sister-in-law, Darlene Anderson. He is survived by his son, Bill of Kansas City, Mo, his grandson, Jonas also of Kansas City, Mo, his brother, David, of Warsaw, Mo and his sister Debbie and Chuck Long of Shawnee, Ks.
Services will be held at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home in Kansas City, Ks on Friday, January 20, 2023. Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm followed by a service at 12.
