Lamor, MO on June 17th, 1938, he was adopted as a baby along with his sister,
Dixie, by George and Retha Rodina. He was a life-long resident of Kansas City,
Kansas, a true Dotte. He attended KCK public schools and graduated from
Washington High School in 1958.
Although he didn’t have biological children of his own, he did just as his father
did and adopted a son, Dean. He also raised Steve and Travis Fittro as his own.
Curtis had many interests that involved fast cars, road trips with his family and
outdoor activities. He and the family would spend every weekend, holiday and
vacation camping, fishing, hiking , float trips and swimming. One of his favorite
road trips was to go down to South Padre every summer.
He had many careers in Wyandotte County that included Data Documents for
over 25 years, The Vernon Company that serviced over 40,000 global customers
where he received the highest award from his peers; however, the career he was
most proud of was working for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County
where he served as a process server. He retired from this organization.
In life, Curtis was a real “character.” His appearance was very important to him,
especially his hair. His day was not complete without calling his sister, Dixie, to
give her “the business.” Curtis loved riding Harleys with his friend Ernie and
being a “stupervisor” with Mike when any work was being done around his
house. He had many sayings his family likes to call “Curtisisms” such as “see ya
when I see ya!”
He is survived by his sister, Dixie Pruitt, his son, Dean Rodina and Steve and
Travis Fittro, four granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Curtis will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM.
Curtis will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Dean Rodina, Travis Fittro, Ernie Arnote, Destyn Hodges, Ronnie Pruitt and Randy Thaxton.
