Chris, 63, of Kansas City, KS passed away Tuesday 12/10/2019, at Medicalodge of Kansas City, after a yearlong battle with severe Spinal Stenosis.
Chris was born in Kansas City, MO, to Edward and June Landis. He attended St. Agnes and Frank Rushton elementary schools, Rosedale Jr/Sr High School and was a member of the first class (1974) to graduate from J.C. Harmon High School. He attended KCK Community College and graduated from National College, now National American Univ., with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
On May 6, 1978 he married his wife of 41 ½ years, Maggie Clave Landis of the home. Together they had one daughter, Heather Landis and adopted a son, Christopher P. Landis, both of the home. They also had seven foster kids. Chris also leaves behind two brothers, Don Landis of Okeechobee, FL and Chuck Landis of Independence, MO; and one sister, Judi Landis of Olathe, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Pat Zeller; and three brothers, Steven, Larry, and an infant, who was never named.
Chris retired in February, after nearly 30 years with the Internal Revenue Service, in Kansas City.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 04, 2020 at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112.
Memorial contributions may be made to Metropolitan Lutheran Ministries, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Johnson/Wyandotte Counties or the charity of the donor’s choice.
