Cheryl Renee Scott

Cheryl Renee Scott, 59, of Tampa, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on October 26, 2016. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, November 5th at Guiding Star Missionary Baptist Church, 3035 North 27th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66104 with visitation from 9:00-11:00 am at the church. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112.

Cheryl was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas. She attended school in the Wyandotte district. Cheryl worked as a dietary aide most of her career, then as a cook and manager in a nursing home. She later moved to Tampa, FL, where she found herself in love with life there. She was a member of Tyer Temple United Methodist under the leadership of Pastor Geraldine Christopher. Cheryl really liked the Sun State, where the scenery was pleasant – especially the palm trees and beautiful beaches. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed long walks through parks. Cheryl liked cookouts with the family. Cheryl was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, grandparents, a host of uncles and aunts, her former husband, Ernest Aaron Scott, Jr., and her grandson, DeAndre Scott.

She is survived by her mother, Annette Watts; her children, Lorinda Scott-Dean (Wordell), Ernest Aaron Scott, III (Shawna), and January Beatrice Scott (Marland McGee); her siblings, Tina Hicks (Steve), Jerome Watson (Rhesa), Regina Lawson, Teri Green (Larry), Anthony Lawson, and Debra Mahija; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and many friends.
