Alden was a proud Navy Veteran of World War II. After, he went on to work for General Motors from where he worked many years before retiring. He was an avid fisherman who liked to relax by the water and also spent his free time being the girl’s coach in both baseball and basketball.
Alden was preceded in death by his wife Louise Thomas; his mother Ruth Thomas and his father Harold Thomas.
Alden is survived by his daughters Pamela Long and Patricia Smith; his sisters Fran Silvers and Ruth Furgison; his grandchildren Amanda Haney, Craig Leach, and Branda Thwaits; his great grandchildren Preston Haney, Haley Leach, Jeweleve Haney, Alden Haney, Nolan Thwaits, Abrahm Thwaits, and Levi Haney.
He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
A visitation for Alden will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112, followed by a funeral services from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alden's memory may be made to Humane Society of Kansas City, 5445 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas 66104 US.
