Adolph Karl Weber, 87, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away May 21, 2018. A memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, May 29th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cardiac Care Unit at the KU Medical Center.
Adolph was born April 6, 1931 in Ellis, Kansas to Andrew and Margaret Weber. They moved to Kansas City when Adolph was five and he was raised in a very proud Deaf and Catholic family and community. He graduated from the Kansas School for the Deaf in Olathe. Adolph was instilled with a love of hard work and self-sufficiency and proved that through becoming a Master Baker and worked at a variety of bakeries for over 40 years, retiring in 1985. He was also a long time member of the Baker’s Union. He married the love of his life, his “Darling Irene” on October 1, 1955, though he usually just called her his “cutie.” He was proud of his family and would do anything to ensure that they had all they needed.
Adolph was a long-time President of the Deaf Chapter of the Sertoma Club. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking with his wife. They traded off who was “sous chef,” though they often had their hands in each other’s dishes. Adolph was a Jack of All Trades, who was able to fix anything around the house. He loved going to the movies, especially when a Western was playing and eating lots of popcorn. Adolph’s love for his family shone through everything he did.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Margaret Weber; his sister, Betty Weber-Fisher; and his twin babies, Mary Ann and Michael Joseph Weber.
Adolph is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Irene Weber; his children, Stanley Vincent Weber (wife Rose), Karl Andrew Weber (wife Connie), and Mary Elizabeth “Missy” Weber-Mooney (husband Ross); his grandchildren, Shannon Whisenant (husband Chris), Heather Cliff (husband Jon), SaVannah Weber (husband Kevin Rogers), and Jacob Weber Mooney; his great-grandchildren, Trevor, Emily, Aubrey, Logan, and Miley; as well as his siblings, Maude Weber-Nedrow, Dorothy Weber-Butler, and Vincent Weber; as well as other relatives and friends.
