I first met Roger in 1982 when I worked at the Royal Bank main branch in Kamloops, along with his partner Al.
What a natural, successful  partnership in an automotive dealership.
Roger never had to say a word, his demeanour was that of a quality, respectful man.
Roger made you feel at ease, you could see he was happy in his own skin.
Roger was kind, strong, not overbearing, but gentle, made you feel at ease in his company.
His staff respected him, trusted him, as did the clients of Smith Chev Olds.
Not many men have the qualities of Roger, very few in fact.
Roger lived a full life, respected by all who knew him.

Life speed Roger in your new journey, you made the lives of so many richer for knowing you.

I was sad to hear that Roger had passed away.  My condolences to the whole Schreiner family.  Mike, I remember your father welcoming a  young, female, Asian District Manager from GM back in the late 80s into the dealership in Kamloops and treating me with as much respect as any other GM rep in the past. I learned a lot from Roger in those days and I appreciated his integrity, patience and support.  He was a class act and will be missed. 

Ben and I were saddened to hear of Roger's passing.  Our condolences to Lillian and all the Schreiner family.  May warm memories of a life well-lived sustain you until you meet again.

I was introduced to your family in 1985.  I started working for Roger when I was just 21 years old.   As soon as I met him, I knew he was a special man.  He was considerate and kind, he made me feel valued as an employee.   As time went on, I grew to know Roger as one of the most genuine, gracious men that I have EVER known.   He was a true gentleman, always positive and encouraging.  He loved his family dearly and he would love to tell stories about how you always supported him, how you always kept him in line.    Behind every successful man, is a strong woman.  I believe that you helped Roger be the man he was and stayed throughout his life.  Thank you for sharing your amazing husband with us at Smith Chevrolet Lillian, there will never be another man like him. xoxox

Dear Lillian, 
It was with sadness Randne and I read about the passing of Roger today.  Michael had called me late last week to let us know Roger was failing and in hospice.  We have many memories of Roger and feel very blessed to have known and worked with him. As I said to Michael, I have great admiration for Roger and felt blessed to be able to work with him as long as I did. He was a man of integrity, compassion and faith. Always a gentleman and a man I truly admired.  Even in very difficult situations, Roger was fair and compassionate. I miss the times that we were able to travel together and talk one on one about all things. Please know Randine and I are thinking of you and you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. The Milton family sends our condolences to the Schreiner family. Roger was always a pleasure to talk to and we had the greatest respect for him.
My Dad told me a story of the time Roger talked him into sitting in a new Corvette in the showroom.  My dad was not made to fit in a car that size, and it took Roger, AL Muzzillo and 2 other salesmen to help him get out of it.  Needless to say he didn't buy the car.  Everyone had a great laugh at the time.

My dear Auntie Lil and my cousins, I am so sorry for your loss.  Words can't match your sadness.  Uncle Roger was a beautiful, soulful man, always with a smile and that twinkle in his eyes.  I remember my mom and dad talking about the trips to Arizona and their visits and, of course, the visits here in B.C.  He will be remembered and respected by all who knew him, especially his beautiful wife, children, and grandchildren.  I will visit once we can.  Love you all. 

Dear Lillian, I am saddened to hear that you have lost your lifelong partner, Roger. I knew him only as a bridge player with our group at the church. I loved seeing you and Roger together. 
I remember one of your mutual birthday celebrations, before bridge, when you gave Roger a big kiss after we sang happy birthday to both of you. It was so plain to see the love you shared, still, after so many years.
I remember Roger as a very kind, gentle man. He will be missed so much by everyone who knew him.  My sincere condolences, Lillian and family.

My condolences to all of you. Uncle Rog was a great man and I will always remember his big smile. I remember the trip I took out to the coast with my children Ryan and Mandy about 15 years ago. You welcomed us into your condo with open arms. We played cards and games, you fed us and had us stay for the night. It will always stick in my mind. I only wish we could have gone around back so you both could have given me tips on how to improve my golf game. Lol. Take care all of you and know that I am thinking of you at this time❤️

Heartfelt sympathy to Lillian & family on the passing of Roger.  Memories of theSCW neighborhood gatherings always started with Roger & Lil.  No one was left out of the fun & laughter.  Roger was a Christian male role model for friends, fathers & husbands.  He used friendship & compassion, twinkle in his eyes,& love in each glance at his loving bride. I always looked up to Roger as one of my role models, both in business and as a family man.  He was a true gentleman.
I have fond memories of being invited to family gatherings, having great talks with Roger and sharing in the family laughter that always filled your house.  I can still picture him sitting back watching with a twinkle in his eye and normally being the last one to chuckle. 
He will truly be missed.


I remember Roger for his compassion and sincerity after I  spoke to him about the health issues facing my child. Tears were shed by the both of us, I will never forget how this experience helped  me through a most difficult period in my life. Roger, you will be missed. My sincere condolences to your family.

You don’t need to say much to give an impression. In 2011, I went to visit our Grandparents in Arizona for my 24th birthday. As goes, my remembrance is captured before this painting at the Heard Museum. Although they did not share the same enthusiasm for the excursion, they encouraged my passion. Only a few days before I had finished a term paper analyzing an exhibit on First Nations at Québec’s Museum of Civilization. Without being told, you wouldn’t know what was behind Grandpa’s great big smile. Resonances can be found in my term paper on the Quebec City exhibit where, “the large photo of a grandfather and a grandchild captures this difficulty, as they are unable to communicate because they do not share the same language.” Although this can be a source of disruption, I acknowledge the effort to drive to the museum, alongside the encouragements that led to my different worldview – a post-secondary education available to ALL their grandchildren. As a custodian of this earth, it is amazing how much ideas and culture can change relationships, alongside the technology of “transport by horse to school to seeing pictures of Mars.” Even though it may not always make sense or be easy, building relationships across humans of all walks of life is what shapes leaders. Change from both sides may not always be comfortable, but wisdom is the single way we can peacefully hope to bridge differences from one generation to the next. Thank-you Grandpa for your guidance.

Aunt Lil, Michael, Christine, Philip and Andrea....I am so very sorry to hear about Uncle Roger’s passing. He was a truly remarkable, loving, kind man and Cam & I really enjoyed the visits we had with him and Auntie Lil....it was something we regret not having done more often. My Dad and Mom spoke often of the wonderful times they had with you both in Palm Springs and on their visits to the coast. May God bless you all and guide you through this sad time.

My heart and prayers are with you all.  Roger will continue to live in all of you and in our memories of him.  My best memories of Roger go back almost 50 years ago, when Roger was the dealer principle at Syd Smiths in their downtown location.    My mom worked with Roger as his office manager and quite often after school and on Saturdays I hung out at the dealership.   Roger, apparently wasn't too excited about the new showroom cars being driven by a 9 year old.....he quite often would try and provide alternative entertainment to keep me busy.  It might have been the treat of going to the Saturday Matinee or a milk shake at Stockman's.  More often than not, he'd give me rows of numbers to add up on the adding machines.  He always made me feel like I was part of the team!  My Mom was so proud of her time working with Roger & Muzz,  even later in life, she would talk about all those memories and once in a while Roger and Mom would reminisce when they ran into each other at church in Heffley Creek.  I'm sure the two of them have already connected and are doing what they loved to do best.  Accounting. 

Remembering with fondness the morning coffee and fresh muffins with our wonderful neighbors in Sun City West, AZ.  So many memories through our years as neighbors and friends.

Joann and I were fortunate enough to be next door neighbors to Roger and Lillian in Sun City West, Az. What fun times those were and we continued th friendship over the years. This included three RV trips to Camloops. I have lost a dear friend and will miss him. My love goes out to Lillian.
