ROB LOVED THE OUTDOORS, HE LOVED  FISHING AND CAMPING AND IN HIS YOUNGER DAYS HE WAS A PRETTY GOOD SKIER.  HE LOVED TO GARDEN AND OUR YARDS WERE ALWAYS FILLED WITH HANGING BASKETS AND FLOWERS EVERY YEAR, TOMATOES AND ZUCCHINI.  HE WAS A GREAT COOK AND LOVED TO BAKE AND CAN.  HE LOVED HIS GRANDSONS LEVI AND ETHAN TO INFINITY AND BEYOND.  THE TIMES SPENT CAMPING AND FISHING, PLAYING GAMES AND SINGING SILLY SONGS.  PUPPET SHOWS AND THE FUNNY SKITS THE BOYS PUT ON. THIS BROUGHT HIM SO MUCH HAPPINESS.


TO MY ROB:
 ROB WHEN I LOOKED AT YOU I SAW A MAN WHO WAS STRONG, SUPPORTIVE AND LOVING, A MAN I COULD COUNT ON.  
WE HAD MANY MANY HAPPY TIMES AND YOU LAUGHED WITH ME.
WE HAD SAD TIMES AND YOU CRIED WITH ME.
YOU FILLED MY LIFE WITH HAPPINESS AND YOU GAVE ME TWO BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN AND I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER.

Dad and I had 19 years together and although that isn’t much, it was some of the best years of my life. From the moment  I met Dad  he accepted me for who I was and treated me from the beginning like his son. I truly cherished those years and don’t have enough time to talk about all the selfless, kind, loving, patient, supportive gestures, gifts, dinners and help he provided me over those 19 years. Through his example Dad taught me every day how to be a better man, husband and father. Dad taught me to take time for the most important things and not to sweat the small stuff. Dad was the most selfless human being I have ever met in my whole life. Dad would literally give you the shirt off his back and not expect anything in return. No really! I literally have some of his shirts in my drawers. There was never any hesitation, ever, when I needed help with anything or if money was tight he was not only selfless but very generous. Everything Dad did was out of Love, not expecting to be repaid, or for you to owe him a favor back. His favorite saying was “no worries.” We went on a cruise in 2013, when we landed in Jamaica he fit right in. Our saying for two weeks when we got back was “no worries mon”. There is nothing that can replace him or the warm, sincere, affectionate interest he showed me. He always checked in on Fridays to make sure everything was good and just to “chew the fat”. There are no words to accurately describe the crater size hole his absence has left in our lives. If he was here now and I could tell him one thing it would Be… DAD “Thank-you for helping me become the man, husband and father I am today. All those things you instilled in me I will instill in Levi and Ethan. Dad I miss you, Dad I love you and I can’t wait to have our running race. I’ll even give you a head start.”

                                           ROBIN BAKER (AKA BRO. R)

THERE ARE A LOT OF MEMORIES IN THE 76 YEARS I’VE BEEN WITH MY BROTHER ROBIN.  HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN MY LIFE BEING 18 MONTHS OLDER THAN ME, SO IT’S GOING TO BE A BIG ADJUSTMENT JUST KNOWING THAT HE ‘S NOT WITH US ANYMORE.  YOU CAN IMAGINE THERE ARE LOTS OF STORIES AND MEMORIES BUT THERE’S NOT ENOUGH TIME TO GO  THROUGH THEM ALL TODAY BUT THEY WILL STAY WITH ME FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.
MY FIRST MEMORIES WERE OF GROWING UP IN POST-WAR ENGLAND AND ALTHOUGH WE DIDN’T HAVE A LOT, WE BOTH HAVE GOOD MEMORIES OF GROWING UP THERE.  ROB AND I WOULD SPEND MANY HOURS REMINISCING OF OUR EARLY DAYS IN ENGLAND, RECALLING PEOPLE, THE MYSTERIOUS “HILLS GANG”, OLD BOMB SHELTERS AT ELLINGHAM’S LAKE AND PLAYING AROUND THE PRE-FABRICATED HOUSES WE LIVED IN.  ROB SEEMED TO HAVE A MUCH BETTER MEMORY OF THOSE DAYS ALTHOUGH I SUSPECT HE STARTED TO MAKE SOME OF IT UP AS WE GOT OLDER.
IN 1957 WE EMIGRATED TO CANADA, ROB WAS ALMOST 13 AND I WAS 11 AND IT WAS A BIG ADJUSTMENT FOR BOTH OF US.  WE INITIALLY LIVED IN NEW WESTMINSTER EVENTUALLY MOVING AND SETTLING IN EAST VANCOUVER WHERE WE STAYED UNTIL LEAVING HOME.
AS FAR BACK AS I CAN REMEMBER MUM AND DAD WORKED SO WE HAD TO FEND FOR OURSELVES AFTER SCHOOL.  ROB WAS ALWAYS TRYING TO DITCH HIS YOUNGER BROTHER AS I ALWAYS WANTED TO TAG ALONG WITH HIM AND HIS FRIENDS.  LIKE MOST BROTHERS WE HAD OUR FAIR SHARE OF SCRAPS BUT WHEN WE GOT INTO OUR TEENS THAT PHASE PASSED AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT AS ADULTS THERE HAS NEVER BEEN AN ARGUMENT OR CROSS WORD BETWEEN THE TWO OF US.

IN 1999,  WE BOTH GOT BUSY RAISING OUR YOUNG FAMILIES BUT WE DID TAKE A NUMBER OF CAMPING TRIPS TOGETHER TO LAKE CHELAN.  ROB, CAROL AND FAMILY SHOWED UP IN WHAT CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS VERY INTERESTING ASSORTMENT OF RECREATION VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS AND WE’VE SHARED MANY A LAUGH ABOUT THEM AND WISHED WE HAD KEPT A PHOTOGRAPHIC HISTORY.  THERE WERE ALWAYS GOOD MEMORIES OF AIR CONDITIONING IN HIS CAR THAT DIDN’T WORK, A MOTOR HOME THAT WAS OVERFILLED WITH PROPANE, TABLE TOPS YOU COULDN’T SEE FOR MAKE-UP, THE JUDY JANE BAKERY, THE BUMPER BOATS AND THE TIME AS FAMILIES WE SPENT TOGETHER.
I THINK IT WAS HAVING TO CARE FOR OUR MUM AND DAD IN THEIR LATER YEARS AND THEIR EVENTUAL PASSING THAT BROUGHT US BACK CLOSER AGAIN.  WE’VE STAYED CLOSE FOR THE LAST 16 YEARS AND VISITS, WITH ALMOST WEEKLY PHONE CALLS AND REGULAR TEXT MESSAGES DURING THE WINTER WITH DAILY REPORTS FROM THE ERIN VALLEY WEATHER STATION.
ROB ALWAYS HAD A FEW PROJECTS FOR ME TO DO ON MY VISITS TO KAMLOOPS WHICH I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED AND LOOK FORWARD TO A NEW LIST OF THINGS TO DO FOR CAROL AND NIKI.  I THINK MOST OF YOU KNOW ROB LOVED TO COOK AND THERE WAS ALWAYS A FEAST OF GREAT MEALS WITH MORE THAN ENOUGH FOOD FOR EVERYONE.  THERE WAS A BIT OF A FAMILY JOKE THAT HE STILL MANAGED TO FIT INTO HIS SIZE 34 INCH WAIST PANTS.
ABOVE ALL ROB WAS ALL ABOUT FAMILY AND FAMILY ALWAYS CAME FIRST FOR ROB.  EVERYTHING HE DID WAS TO PROVIDE A BETTER LIFE FOR CAROL, PAUL AND NIKI.  PAUL HAS ALWAYS KEPT HIM ON THE GO AND SEEMED TO DEVELOP A UNIQUE ABILITY TO PUSH HIS DAD’S BUTTONS FROM TIME TO TIME BUT IT WAS ALL IN FUN I’M SURE.  NIKI AND DUSTIN HAVE GIVEN ROB AND CAROL TWO BEAUTIFUL GRANDSONS LEVI AND ETHAN.  HE LOVED TAKING THEM AWAY IN THE MOTORHOME TO PINANTAN LAKE TO DO SOME CAMPING AND FISHING AND OR TAKING THE ENTIRE FAMILY TO OLIVER ON VACATION.
I COULDN’T HAVE ASKED FOR OR WANTED A BETTER BROTHER, I LOVED HIM AND THERE WAS A BOND BETWEEN US THAT ONLY BROTHERS CAN HAVE.
REST IN PEACE BRO. R, YOUR WORK HERE IS DONE

From Levi: 
My Papa was a very wonderful man he was funny sarcastic and most of all loving. He loved fishing and teaching me and passing his love for something down to me. I can say whatever happens I'll be catching a fish in my papa's honor. He was so proud of me when I caught, and cleaned  my own fish at the lake in June and I will never forget his big smile when i showed him. 

He loved telling me stories about when he came to Canada from England all fun adventures he had when he was in England and all the things he loved as a kid. One of my favorite stories he told me was when he came on a plane and wrote Robin Baker on the side it made him laugh every time. We would always go camping with Papa and nanny and uncle Paul every time was fun, we loved listening to his stories while we ate marshmallows by the fire. We jumped off the boat, off the dock and into the lake those were some of my favorite times. He'd always call me and Ethan  upstairs to bake zucchini cakes when we would stay at their house. One time we put a whole chocolate bar in the middle of one cake. 

I will always remember my Papa sarcastic and his comebacks to everyone who acted like a “tool” around him. His words again. I remember when we were on the boat with him me and my brother were being loud and annoying, he said to us “shut up both of you if you get any louder, they'll send out a patrol boat!” That makes me laugh every time I think about it.
I always think of my Papa proudly. I'll never forget the lessons and skills that he has taught me. I will never forget all of the amazing food he cooked for me, how much time he had for me and how much he loved me. One thing for sure is he put the “grand” in grandpa.

To Papa from Ethan:
Papa taught me to be happy and to have fun. He taught me all about soccer and he loved soccer too. papa told the best stories and sang silly songs that made me laugh.
Papa and nanny made it so fun when me and Levi had sleepovers. We got the biggest candy bags, and my mom never knew. He always said shhh don’t tell your mom. I loved camping with Papa and going on the boat to fish. When we went camping, we always got to stay up really late. I love Pappa very much and I will miss his cuddles, his cooking, especially his eggs, hashbrowns and hamburgers. My Papa is the best Papa in the world to me.
I can’t wait to have another game of soccer.

Carol, Paul & Nicki.& family   So very sorry to hear of Rob’s passing. He was a lovely man. 
Many good memories of our trips up to Coquihala Lake cabins. Loved those times.  
Many a Friday night we would get together. Have a few & light up the BBQ. Enjoy a campfire & chat the evening away. A great friend indeed. 
We will miss him but not for long. He will be back as soon as we know it. Then we can relive those awesome moments but young & full energy.

It’s amazing we can be so many things to so many different people and we grieve with you 🤎 Rob was just over a couple of weeks before he got sick encouraging my family and I remember thinking .. “Thank you Jehovah! For Shephards that are  so patient, loving and kind!” Always kind, always smiling and forever missed until Jehovah reunites us all with our loved ones 🤎

Your were like a second father to me (better than the first 😃). A great uncle anyone could ask for. 
I appreciated  all your attention, discipline, advice, guidance, talks (sometimes pointed and stern , which I needed at times) and love .  Doing  my best to walk in your footsteps 🙏.

I have many fond memories of my uncle as well. I remember the time that uncle Robin and aunt Carol took me out to lunch and talked about what I was going to do when I graduated and what I would be doing  in college and all the things that I had planned for my life.  He was always so kind and generous, and had an open ear and always made me laugh. I loved his garden and flowers . Dinner and parties were always fun and you treated our children so kindly. opening your home and always having all 
kinds of food, treats and gifts!  To my aunt Carol, my cousin, Nicole, her husband, Dustin, and the children. We are so sorry and know that you are in our prayers. Your husband and partner, dad, grandpa, my uncle, will never be forgotten. Much love, Carolyn and Zander.
