It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Laurence (Larry) Charles Gingras, (Lunk or Fungus), 84 years old, of Logan Lake BC. Larry passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024, in Kamloops BC.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Madeleine of 61 years, his children Paula, Ed (Kathy), Tina (Paul), and Marty (Maria). His grandchildren Paul, Chris, Geoff (Shena), and Julia. His great-grandchildren Liam and Elijah, His siblings Roberta (Reg), Jude, Mavis, David, Donald (Mai), Gerard (Laurel), John (Julie), Gordie (Carolanne), Danny (Soma), brother-in-law Ian, Sister-in-law Lorraine, along with too many nieces, nephews, and friends to count.
Family and friends were such a pivotal force in Larry’s life, he spread his love, wisdom, and kindness to all. He could always make you laugh and smile with his jokes, dry wit, and one-liner comebacks! Magic tricks were also a specialty. Pretty sure his younger relations all had a quarter retrieved from behind their ears at one time or another.
Larry built his first home (1965) in Richmond, BC and resided there until his retirement in 2002. He was a hardworking man, owning and operating his own business, Larry’s Plumbing and Heating. Aside from that he was an artistic builder. He renovated and built his homes and the homes of others, always a project in progress.
His passion in life was country music. He was an avid bass and guitar player, as well as a great singer. He spent countless hours perfecting his abilities, wowing crowds in legions and pubs, and of course hosting some pretty rad jam sessions on the stage he built at his vacation home in Point Roberts, Washington (Bic lighters up for Larry G !!!!!)
Larry lived, loved, built, and played. We thank everyone who participated in his journey, he loved you all. A man larger than life, as a husband, dad, grampa, great-grampa, brother, uncle, and friend, you will be sorely missed and loved in our hearts forever.
