Imelda Elisa Frunt

April 7, 1929 - March 31, 2020

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we must announce the passing of our beloved mother, Imelda Frunt.

She passed away peacefully in the Trinity Care hospice in Kamloops, B.C., on March 31, 2020. Her youngest daughter was by her side. She was almost, but not quite, 91 years old.

Imelda is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen and Monique, her granddaughter Keltee, and her 3 great grandchildren, Maycee, Adrian, and Emmett.

She will be remembered for her generous, giving, and forgiving nature; her big, kind, caring heart; her determined, energetic, and adventurous spirit; her ability to see beauty in everyone and everything; and for the abundant love she had, and prolifically shared, with everyone.

Mom always said that she had a lot of love to give, enough for the whole world, and she always did, for family, for friends, and for anyone at all who needed it.

We believe that our dear mother would not have wanted a regular obituary listing her chronological life story and accomplishments; after all, she was not a regular woman. Rather, we think that she would just ask each of you to remember the Imelda that you knew; to reflect on the personal memories that you have of her.

Remember how she touched your life: the experiences that you shared, the things she did with you, and for you, how she may have helped you, and the love she had for you. Share those memories with smiles and laughter, rather than with tears.

Mom truly lived her life as a reflection of her beliefs: to remain humble in the eyes of God, to be of service to her fellow man, to give generously, whatever and whenever, she could, to be grateful for all she had, to live her life as an example of her faith; and love, always there was love.

When you remember Imelda, remember her with love; remember the love she had for you and spread the love outward, like ripples in a pond, through your entire life, and you will honour her.

Mom’s favourite flower was the pansy, a humble, easily overlooked blossom, especially when in a garden full of roses, orchids, and lilies; yet, if you take the time to look, an impressively, strikingly beautiful flower in its own right, very much like our mother.

She was very deeply loved, and will be immensely missed.

Unfortunately, amidst all the uncertainty that surrounds us during these difficult and unprecedented times, we are unable to hold a memorial service to come together to grieve, and to properly celebrate our mother’s life. We may not be able to do so for some time to come.

At this time, we are asking everyone who knew and loved Imelda, to please let us know if you would be interested in, and willing to, attend a ‘Celebration of Life’ for our beloved mother sometime in the future, when life once again holds just a little more certainty.
