Glenda Marie Colville (nee Hickling) passed away unexpectedly at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops on April 17, 2020. She was the second of four born to Earl and Mary Hickling at Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel, BC on March 31, 1949.
Survived by her son, Charles (Sue), grandchildren Gavin, Alexa, Mya all from Savona; her daughter in law Reshawn and granddaughter Nicola of
Edmonton; her brother John of Kelowna and sister Doris of Vernon. Glenda was predeceased by her husband Fred, her son Neal and her brother David.
Glenda attended school in Quesnel until the end of grade 10. She then moved with her family to Terrace for grade 11 at Skeena Secondary School and eventually to Prince George for grade 12 at Prince George College where she graduated in 1966. After completing grade 13 at Prince George
Secondary, she was accepted into the Kamloops Royal Inland Hospital School of Nursing in 1967. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1970.
Glenda met her future husband, Fred Colville, while in Prince George in 1966. Their relationship was long distance as Fred lived in Prince George, and Glenda attended Nursing School in Kamloops, until Fred moved to
Kamloops in 1968.
They were married in Vernon shortly before her graduation on May 23, 1970. They moved to Kamloops where Glenda continued to work at Royal Inland
Hospital until the birth of Charles in 1974 and then they moved to Savona shortly before the birth of Neal in 1976. In 1983 Glenda took a nursing
position at Ashcroft District Hospital, where she worked until her retirement in 2005.
Glenda was very involved within the community of Savona. She was
involved with the Community Association, Girl Guides and the early Savona First Aid Team. Glenda enjoyed watching and supporting her children and grandchildren in their sports and activities. Glenda moved to Chartwell Ridgepoint Retirement Home in June of 2019. She enjoyed the many
activities and outings there. From wine tours, to concerts, movie nights and tile rummy games. Glenda was glad that she made the move.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Royal Inland
Hospital ER, ICU, the Renal Unit and 7 North for their care and support.
