86, of Tequesta, Fl, died peacefully on January 29th after a long battle with lymphoma.
Born in Boston, MA on September 11, 1925, Bob graduated from Quincy High School and immediately enlisted in the US Navy, serving in the South Pacific and at the Battle for Okinawa. After leaving the Navy, he received a degree in Business Administration from Boston University before joining his family’s jewelry business and earning the coveted title of Certified Gemologist with the American Gem Society.
In 1979, he and his wife Julie moved to Florida and opened Roberts Jewelers of Tequesta, where for thirteen years, Bob was fondly known as “Mr. Roberts” to his many loyal customers. A talented musician, after retiring in 1993, he spent many happy years indulging his love of music, playing the violin and trombone in several local bands and orchestras.
He will be deeply missed by Julie, his best friend and beloved wife of 38 years, daughters, Sanda Freeman and Caren (Steve) Blenkhorn, step-daughter Jennifer Markell, grandchildren Rachael and Ben Blenkhorn.
Interment will be at Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon, MA. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
