Raymond Robert Noble

Raymond Robert Noble, 86, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, under the care of his only child’s family in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Born May 18, 1938, in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, to parents Mary Lou Yancoski and Raymond Edward Nowsatka. Dr. Noble spent much of his early life in and around Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, where he moved at the age of 12.

He graduated from St. James High School for Boys in 1956 and pursued higher education at Temple University, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1960. In 1966, Dr. Noble graduated medical school from Hahnemann University School of Medicine, now known as Drexel University College of Medicine. Following his training in general surgery from the University of Pennsylvania, he served as a Major in the United States Air Force Reserve Medical Corps.

In 1972, Dr. Noble relocated to Wilmington, Delaware, where he dedicated his career to general surgery. He initially worked at Wilmington Medical Center and later joined Christiana Hospital soon after its opening in 1985. He was an active member of the surgical teaching staff at Christiana Hospital and taught medical students and surgical residents from Jefferson Medical College. His commitment to his patients and the community was evident throughout his decades-long medical career.

Dr. Noble married Rosemary Rita Gualtiere in 1969, and together they welcomed their son, Andrew Raymond Noble, in 1974. Dr. Noble’s pride in his family was immeasurable, particularly when Andrew earned his medical degree in 2000 from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and completed his orthopedic surgery fellowship in total joint replacement at the Harvard School of Medicine, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Dr. Noble was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his sister, Carol Gunsaullus of Malvern, Pennsylvania; his son, Andrew Raymond Noble of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; his daughter-in-law, Camille Noble; and his three cherished grandsons, Charles, Scott, and Zachary. He will be remembered for his deep love for his family, unwavering dedication to his profession, lasting impact on the Wilmington community and his clever wit that brought joy to those around him.

A visitation was held on December 5, 2024, at 3:30 p.m. at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home in Jupiter, Florida, surrounded by his family and friends from the Arcadia Gardens community.

Dr. Noble’s legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched as a surgeon, mentor, and family man.
