Paul Richardson

Age 88, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2020 from complications caused by Parkinson ’s disease.

Paul was educated at Ridley College in St. Catharine’s, Ontario, Canada and New York State University. He was vice president of Richardson’s in Groton, Connecticut, a family owned and operated department store. While in Groton, he was a member of the Groton Rotary Club and President of the New London Kiwanis. He was Director of Purchasing for Northfield Mount Hermon School in Mount Hermon, Massachusetts, prior to moving to Palm Beach in 1974 where he joined Flagler System, Inc. as Vice President of Purchasing for The Breakers. While at The Breakers he was a member of the Palm Beach County Hotel/Motel Association and served as Secretary of the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce for 8 years. After leaving The Breakers in 1988, he joined Serta, Inc. as a corporate sales manager. He retired in 1998.

Paul was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Army. He was stationed in Chuncheon, Korea, and Tokyo, Japan.

Throughout his life, Paul was a golf enthusiast and enjoyed sailing and fishing. He was an avid New York Yankees fan, along with the New England Patriots. He was a licensed pilot and logged many hours flying small planes. He will be remembered for his fetching smile and keen sense of humor.

Paul was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his four children Mary Lowery Kincaid. They had three sons, David Andrew Richardson, Michael Bruce Richardson and Peter Gibson Richardson and one daughter Julie Kincaid Richardson. Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Barbara Smart Richardson, his four children, six grandchildren, three great grandsons, one great granddaughter and his faithful four-legged companion “Gidget”.

The family wishes to express its profound gratitude to Paul's caregivers at Rebekah's Place - Coleen and Harvester ("Orvill") Taylor, Clinton Hudson and Ashaki Denis, and to his longtime aide Myron Gosling.

A private service for family members will be held in December in the Memory Garden at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Lake Worth Beach, FL , where he will be inurned.
