Douglas Keith Wedgworth, age 73, passed away on September 23, 2023, at his home in Jupiter, Florida following a courageous battle. He was born on November 7, 1949, in East Lansing, Michigan to his parents, George H. Wedgworth and Peggy Rawls Wedgworth, who were attending Michigan State University at the time. Douglas is survived by the love of his life, wife Teresa Mickley Wedgworth. He is also survived by his sons Douglas Keith Wedgworth, Jr. (Amanda), Kevin Scott Wedgworth (Alaina), and daughter Mary Elizabeth Croft, stepsons Tyler Sagraves and Hunter Sagraves, and stepdaughter Shelbi Sagraves. Douglas was a cherished grandfather to Whitney Kay, Wells, McCall, Chappell, Andrew, Wyatt, Hunter Edward, and Matthew. Additional survivors include his brother, Dennis G. Wedgworth (Rebecca) and sisters Deborah Wedgworth Altman (Thomas) and Diane Wedgworth Triplitt (Tom) and eight nieces and nephews.
Douglas graduated from The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969, and would later serve on the Board of Trustees of that prestigious school. After graduating from LaGrange College in 1973, Douglas became the first of the third generation of Wedgworths to join the family business, Wedgworth Farms, Inc. of Belle Glade, Florida. Always willing and anxious to serve his community, Douglas for many years was a chief fundraiser for the Gulfstream Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He also served on the board of the Western Palm Beach County Farm Bureau and was a director for the South Florida Fair. Douglas was a lifelong booster of the Florida Gators and enjoyed a close relationship with several decades of teams and coaches that made their way through Gainesville. He was a huge fan of, and personal friends with, the musical group, The Embers, especially their leader, Craig Woolard. Doug loved spending time at his family’s ranch in Yeehaw Junction, summers at Lake Summit, North Carolina, and traveling the world with his dear Teresa. Doug’s keen sense of humor, his gregarious personality, his caring way and loyal friendships endeared him to all who knew him.
