William "Rabbit" Purcell

William "Rabbit" Purcell, age 92, of Jonesboro, GA passed away on Friday July 21, 2017. William was born January 1, 1925. He retired from Ford Motor Company after many years of service. William loved to hunt and fish and was known as Dad or Grandfather to the neighborhood where he lived. William along with other neighbors organized a field for the children to play ball. William was a kind and giving man.

William is survived by; sons John T Purcell, James "Jimmy" Purcell, and son William "Billy" Purcell; granddaughters Heather "Nikki" Leonard, Chastity Purcell and granddaughters Jessie and Justine; 9 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his wife Venice Carter Purcell; son Wayne Purcell; daughter Virginia "Ginger" Purcell; grandson Cody Purcell, and granddaughter Rebecca "Becky" Purcell.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 25 from 4 to 8 pm at Tara Garden Chapel funeral home. The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 26 at 3 pm at Tara Garden Chapel with Pastor Joe Hughes officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
