Mother Coleman was educated in the Paducah Public School System and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958. Upon graduation, Mother Coleman attended Providence School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois and completed her nursing education at Western Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Paducah, KY in 1968. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Western Baptist Hospital and Lourdes Hospital in Paducah Ky. In 1959 Mother Coleman married George L. Coleman of Paducah, Ky. Two children were born through this union, Risé Denise and Coretta Kay. The couple divorced in 1974. Upon moving to Atlanta GA in 1975, Mother Coleman worked for Emory Crawford Long Hospital, Parkview Manor Bonterra Nursing Center, and The Veterans Administration Hospital. In addition, she cared for many patients through private duty.
In 1977, Mother Coleman joined Cathedral of Faith Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Jonathan Greer ll. At Cathedral, Mother Coleman operated the nurses unit and served in the nursing home ministry.
In 1999, Mother Coleman joined Monument of Faith COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Sharon Danzler where she served on the Mother’s Board and as a Missionary. Mother Coleman was a licensed Missionary under the Church of God in Christ for more than 30 years.
Mother Coleman was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Laurine Topp, two brothers; James Topp and Alvin Topp; one sister , Carolyn Topp. She is survived by two daughters; Risé Kenner (Harrison) of Atlanta, GA, and Coretta Coleman of Atlanta, GA; one brother Reverend Donald Topp (Regina) of Paducah, Ky, three sisters; Sherlyn Topp of Paducah, KY, Frances Topp of Paducah, KY and Linda Turley of Washington, DC, two granddaughters; Kasey Michelle and Markayla Elise of Atlanta, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mother Coleman was a faithful servant in the Kingdom of God. She loved the Lord and would boldly proclaim her love for Christ. She was compassionate and loved caring for people. Her warm smile and caring spirit will be missed
