Roger Paul Montgomery, age 62, of Johnstown, died peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2014. Resident of Johnstown his entire life, Roger graduated from Johnstown High School, Class of 1969 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Miami of Ohio in 1973. He went on to earn Masters Degrees in School Administration and Sports Administration from Ashland University and earned his Superintendent’s License. Roger worked in the education field as a teacher, administrator and coach for 30 years within the Johnstown, Centerburg, East Knox and Millersport School Districts. Roger had coached football in Johnstown and boys and girls basketball. He was a member of the Licking County Umpire Association and had umpired volleyball, basketball and softball. He enjoyed local sports events and livestock shows. He was a member of Steer Pool Committee, Farm Bureau, Angus Association and Ohio Cattlemen’s Association. Volunteer with the Johnstown Fire Department Association. Preceded in death by parents, Paul Marvin and Wilda Marie (Davis) Montgomery; a great-niece, aunts and uncles. Survived by loving wife, Sheryl; sons, Joe (Jana) Simpson and Mitchell Roger Montgomery; brothers, Glen Curtis (Laurie) Montgomery, Gary Charles (Nancy) Montgomery; brother-in-law, Greg Hunt; mother-in-law, Freda (Salyer) Hunt; grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Simpson; great-grandson, Braylen Dowell; nieces and nephews. Funeral Service 10 AM Wednesday at the Johnstown United Methodist Church, 159 S. Main Street, Johnstown, OH. Pastor John Wallace officiating. Interment Green Hill Cemetery.
