Janet LaRue Croyle

Janet LaRue Croyle went home to be with the Lord on October 23, 2024. She had a strong quiet faith lived out in the love she gave to family and friends. She is survived by her three daughters Cynthia (Steve) Thackston , Kathleen (Mark) Alt and Carol (Gary) Frederick. She was blessed with eight beautiful grandchildren (Lauren, Kristin, Jesse, Casey, Maggie, Sara, Garrett and Jake), five great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

Janet was born in Somerset, PA on August 23, 1927. She was the oldest of 10 children born to Virgil and Vera Moyer and survived by her siblings Bill, Shirley, Chuck, Terry and Linda and preceded in death by Don, Lois, Wilbur and Eleanor. She graduated from Somerset High School in 1945 and worked at Somerset General Hospital. It was during this time, while on a blind date, she met her future husband, Clifford S. Croyle. They married on September 18, 1954 and moved to Baltimore, MD in the summer of 1966 starting a new chapter in their life. They remained happily married until Clifford’s passing on June 22, 1986.

Her greatest joy in life was being a homemaker raising and nurturing her three daughters. Once the grandchildren started arriving she experienced a new joy in her life. Her family was everything to her. She retired from her most fulfilling job at United Cerebral Palsy in Maryland in 1995. She remained in Maryland until moving to The Chimes Assisted Living Facility in Johnstown, Ohio in June of 2018. This brought her closer to her daughter Carol and her family of Centerburg, Ohio. Janet's favorite hobbies at the Chimes included bingo, crafts, cardio drumming and word search puzzles. Her family and friends were richly blessed with the time they had with her.

There will be a Memorial Service in Ohio in the summer of 2025. An announcement of the service will be provided to family and friends as soon as the date is determined.
