Granville “Rick” Ferguson Samples Jr., 77, of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Rick was born on October 2, 1946 in Charleston, WV, a son to the late Granville Sr. and Thelma (Brown) Samples. He graduated from Hilliard H.S. in 1964 where he excelled in many athletics. Rick served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1968 during the Vietnam War. He loved watching football, basketball, hockey, golf, spending time with family and his grandkids. Rick is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Samples; children, Ben (Becky) Samples and Meredith (Jason) Kitchen; grandchildren, McKenna Kitchen, Trevor Kitchen, Tyler Samples and Kylie Samples; sister, Gail McDonald and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 3-5 on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Calvin Alexander officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to the VA, Home Instead and Johnstown Pointe. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
