Donald R. Orr

Donald Robert Orr, age 83, of Johnstown, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018, at St. Ann’s, Westerville, surrounded by family. Don was born February 12, 1935, Ragersville, Ohio, to the late John and Alice (Sharkey) Orr. He attended Dover High School, graduating in 1953. Don was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Johnstown, past member Johnstown Lions Club, member of the Johnstown Chamber of Commerce, Johnstown Businessmen Association, and the Johnstown Sportsman Club. Don was a 32nd degree Mason from the Center Lodge #86 F&AM, Johnstown. Don was owner of the Shamrock Restaurant, Dairy Isle, and Drummer Boy Fried Chicken. He was also the owner of General Business Services, tax and bookkeeping service. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dolly; daughter, Debi (David Roderick) and son, Doug (Holly); blessed with four grandsons, Douglas (Sarah Drake), Bradley (Melissa Greer), Stephen (Jaclyn Braen), and William; two great grandchildren, Isla and Grady; sister, Betty and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don is also preceded in death by his brothers, William, Russell, Thomas and Charles; sisters, Thelma, Leah, Margie, and Bonnie. Family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Johnstown Presbyterian Church, 81 S. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031 with a Masonic Lodge service at 7:30 pm. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday at the church with Rev. Kevin Heckathorn officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Johnstown. A special thank you to the healthcare staff of St. Ann’s. Don was noted for his smile and kind words for the attentive staff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Johnstown Presbyterian Church in Donald’s memory.
