Richard Selee Luther, age 74, of Erwin, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born in White Plains, New York, a son of the late Ward L. Luther, Jr. and Hope Palmer Luther. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepmother, Anne Sheridan Luther; and one brother, Ward L. “Larry” Luther, III.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed taking drives while taking in the scenery. He was outstanding with electronics and small repairs, while he loved solving the issues people would have with items when they would stop working. He loved building stain glass windows and jewelry boxes. He was an avid follower of World War II history and watching movies and listening to music. He was a member of the Tennessee Sheriffs Association since 2017, Fraternal Order of Eagles since 2001, American Legion since 2005, and had a lifetime membership with NRA since 2023.
He is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Lyn Rogers and husband Phil; one brother and sister-in-law, David Luther and wife Kathie; sister-in-law, Virginia H. Luther; several nieces and nephews.
Committal Service and Interment will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Mountain Home National Cemetery with honors by the Navy Honor Guard.
