Miles "Mickey" William Archer

Miles William Archer, age 78, of Johnson City, TN, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Jonesborough, Tennessee, a son of the late James William Archer and Alma Curtis Archer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Archer; and two brothers, Gary and Scotty Archer.

Miles was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church where he served as a usher, greeter and on the security team. He attended Jonesboro High School and worked for five and half years at Burlington Industries and retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1997 with twenty-nine years of service. He coached softball in the area for over thirty years and loved watching sports. Miles enjoyed doing church work and mowing when he was able.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lori Bunton and husband Jason; one son and his partner, Robert Archer and Howard Dale; two grandchildren, Danielle Thornton and husband Jerrod and Katie Bunton; one great grandson, Mason Thornton; one sister, Wanda Fugate; and several nieces and cousins.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 9, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, 197 Suncrest Street, Gray, Tennessee. Committal Service and Interment will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 9:00 AM in the Highland Church Cemetery, 488 Highland Church Road, Johnson City, TN with Pastor John Herdman and friend Rick Hall officiating. Pallbearers will be Ricky Hall, Jon Roark, Larry Russell, Bill Neal, Bobby Edwards, Steve Smith, David Pruitt, and Jerry Lovegrove. Honorary pallbearers will be ushers, greeters and security team from Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, Johnny Holder, Grady Holder, Jason Bunton, Jerrod Thornton, Ken Curtis, Ed Pence, Pete Moore, Gary Estep, Tim Tipton, Howard Dale, Tom Cole, Preston Quillen, Luke Randolph, and Doug Jarrett.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice for all the love and care that was shown.
