Lydia Navarro departed this world suddenly at the age of 76 on Christmas Eve 2023, in Johnson City, TN, surrounded by her loved ones, plants, and music. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a life well-lived.
Lydia is survived by her devoted husband, Lorenzo Navarro, her loving daughter, Ivette Navarro Welch, stepchildren Maria Elena Perez and Gustavo Navarro, sister-in-law Judy Diaz, and son-in-law Christopher Welch. She was preceded in death by her parents Felipe and Etelvina Diaz, her brother Luisito Diaz, and her son Carlos Alberto Pino.
Born on September 30, 1947, in Luyanó, Habana Cuba, Lydia embarked on a courageous journey to the United States in 1962 at the age of 14, seeking freedom and new opportunities. Later that year, her parents joined her in Brooklyn, NY, where her brother had prepared a small efficiency for their new life.
At the age of 17, Lydia married her first husband and welcomed a son into the world. In 1969, they moved to Miami, FL, to enhance their opportunities and be closer to family who had also immigrated from Cuba. At 24, Lydia faced the heartbreak of losing her first husband, leaving her with a 3-year-old son. Despite numerous struggles, her unwavering faith in God provided the strength to forge ahead. Lydia dedicated her life to her son and determinedly pursued her studies in Business Administration.
In 1978, Lydia met her second husband, Lorenzo, with whom she shared 45 years of love and companionship. In 1979, they welcomed their daughter into the world. Together, they established a successful furniture manufacturing business, which they passionately operated for 16 years. Lydia's compassion for children led her to work at a Day Care, where she shared her love for many years until her retirement.
Lydia's life was marked by a profound passion for writing, painting, playing the piano, and connecting with nature. A dedicated, loving, and caring wife, mother, and friend, Lydia touched the hearts of many by sharing her love for God and delivering His message. She lived with integrity, honor, love, and a forgiving spirit.
Lydia Navarro will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we remember her, let us celebrate a life well-lived and find solace in the lasting impact she made on our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Jesus Guerrero officiating.
