LJ "Bud" Shell Jr.

LJ “Bud” Shell, Jr., age 64, of Jonesborough, TN, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee, a son of the late LJ Shell, Sr. and Carmen Hill Johnson.

LJ was retired with over 30 years of service in the Maintenance Department at East Tennessee State University. He was an avid muscle car collector and loved working on and refurbishing old cars. He was a Toyota truck guy and was known for not driving anything but a Toyota.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Debbie Lones Shell; two children, Jonathon Shell and Laura Buchanan and husband Steven; four grandchildren; two brothers, Jeff Johnson and wife Jennifer, and Jackie Davis; two sisters, Wanda Davis and husband Raymond, and Kathy Stout and husband Bill; one brother-in-law, John Lones; four sister-in-laws, Barbara Greer, Karen Lones, Ginger Hardin, and Sandra Carver; and several nieces and nephews.

Committal Service and Interment will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 12:00PM in Section F at Monte Vista Memorial Park with Rev. James Hill officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
