Jimmy Lynn Jones, age 67, of Jonesborough, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Ascension St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, a son of the late James Jones and Faye Gouge Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
Lynn was a graduate of Science Hill High School Class of 1975. He was an active member of Cherokee Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. His father owned Economy Auto Repair and Lynn took over the business and ran it until 1987. He then went on to work as Shop Foreman for Sherwood Chevrolet, Service Manager for Grindstaff, and retired in 2007 as Service Manager at Champion Chevrolet. Lynn was a member of the Appalachian British Car club. He loved working on cars, and to family and friends was known as 1-800 call Lynn when it come to needing car repairs. He will be remembered for his saying “RTJ” Rough Tough Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Myrna Jones; two sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Myra Feathers and husband Mitchell, and Evita Wilson and husband Paul; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Oliver Constable and wife Ruth; one niece, Michelle Staggs and husband Wes; two nephews, Mitchell Feathers II and wife Alicia, and Christopher Wilson; one great niece, Isabella Staggs; and three great nephews, Mitchell Feathers III and wife Kensi, Zachary Feathers, and Michael Staggs.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 5:00PM until 6:45PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 7:00PM with Dr. Clay Austin officiating. Committal Service and Entombment will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 10:00AM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Hillside Mausoleum at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
